Privacy Policy
Short version: We collect as little as possible. Your scripts stay on your device. We don't sell your data. AI features use your own API key.
This Privacy Policy explains how Cue ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects information about you when you use the Cue teleprompter application ("Service").
1. Information We Collect
Account information: If you create an account, we collect your email address and a hashed password.
Usage data: We may collect anonymized, aggregated data about how the Service is used (e.g., features accessed, session lengths) to improve Cue. This data cannot be used to identify individual users.
Scripts and context (Pro/Team): If you use script saving features, your scripts are stored in our database, encrypted at rest. They are never used for advertising or AI training.
What we do NOT collect:
- Audio recordings (voice recognition is processed by your browser)
- Video from your camera
- Content of video calls
- Payment information (handled by Stripe)
2. Voice and Speech Data
Cue's voice tracking uses the Web Speech API built into your browser. Audio is processed locally or by your browser's speech recognition service (such as Google's in Chrome). Cue does not receive, store, or have access to your raw audio. Transcribed text used for script syncing is processed in-browser only.
3. AI Features
When you use the AI co-pilot, Cue sends your script, context fields, and transcribed speech to the Anthropic API using your personal API key. This data is processed under Anthropic's Privacy Policy, not ours. We do not store AI conversations or API responses on our servers.
4. ChatGPT Import
When you import a ChatGPT export file, the file is processed entirely in your browser. No data from the file is sent to our servers. Extracted context is stored locally in your browser session.
5. Cookies and Local Storage
We use local storage to save your API key and preferences locally on your device. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party advertising cookies. We may use essential session cookies for authentication.
6. Third-Party Services
- Anthropic: AI features (your own API key, subject to Anthropic's policy)
- Stripe: Payment processing (we never see your card details)
- Supabase: Database and authentication for registered users
7. Data Retention
Free tier: No data stored beyond your browser session. Pro/Team: Account data retained as long as your account is active. You can request deletion at any time by emailing us. We will delete your data within 14 days of a valid deletion request.
8. Security
We use industry-standard encryption (TLS) for data in transit and AES-256 for data at rest. API keys stored in local storage are only accessible by your browser on the Cue domain. We undergo regular security reviews.
9. Your Rights (GDPR)
If you are in the European Economic Area, you have the right to access, correct, port, or delete your personal data. You also have the right to object to processing and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [email protected].
10. Children's Privacy
Cue is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If we learn we have collected such information, we will delete it promptly.
11. Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be notified via email to registered users and posted on this page. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
